Katherine M. Cox M.D. Dermatologist


As the daughter of two Navy parents always on the move, Dr. Katherine Cox now claims Houston as home. She was initially born in Jacksonville, FL but she quickly moved to Rhode Island and later Hawaii. Her family then settled in Kingsville, TX where she completed junior high and high school.

After graduating as valedictorian of her class, Dr. Cox attended Rice University where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She then earned her Doctorate of Medicine with honors at Baylor College of Medicine. She initially started residency in Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat) at the University of Florida, but after completing her surgery internship, she realized her true passion –Dermatology. Dr. Cox then became a clinical trial research fellow in the Department of Dermatology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where she devoted much of her time to cutaneous T-cell lymphoma drug trials, which led to FDA-approval of new cancer treatments. Her three years of residency were completed at the University of Texas at Houston – M.D. Anderson Cancer Center program. She served as Chief Resident during her final year.

Dr. Cox is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, and American Society for Pediatric Dermatology, Houston Dermatologic Society, Texas Dermatologic Society, Texas Medical Association, and Harris County Medical Society.

Her outside interests include traveling, exercising, finding new restaurants/dives, learning Spanish, and meeting new people.
